Planes and owls

Joshua really has a thing for flying things...

I'm not sure what direction the wind has been from the last few days, but we've had a lot of planes flying over our house, especially in the late afternoon/evening. Every time one flies over now Joshua looks up (through the roof...) and he often makes this deep throated gurgling sound to imitate the sound. And just to prove that he does know its a plane, one time he used his hand to pretend to fly around like a plane like we've showed him to. So cute!

And then yesterday we were reading one of his favourite books - Room on the Broom (I love Julia Donaldson's books so much!!!) On one of the pages there's a picture of an owl sitting in a tree, more as a background picture, but he likes to point at it, and I tell him what it is. Well yesterday after we'd done that he then closed the book, looked at the front cover and then turned it over to the back cover and pointed to a picture of another owl which was flying. So not only did he recognise that both were owls, despite them being in different positions, but he remembered that there was an owl on the cover from some other time!

I love my little boy!
