Bees!

We've had and ongoing problem with bees while we've been living in this house...

And each time we think they're gone they'll come back to taunt us.

But this week just took the cake! I got home on Thursday after work and as I was coming into the cul de sac I could see them flying around our driveway... I got to our house and as I drove through them it was like something out of a movie! I couldn't actually believe how many there were! I left all my bags in the car, and just brought Joshua into the house and closed everything (and of course we're still having HOT weather!) Luckily they hadn't really come to the front door at that point.

This isn't all of them, but just to give you an idea... A large number of them settled on Joshua's window at one point... I've honestly never seen bees like this!

Andrew went out to get us some supper when it was dark, and they'd all calme down, and when he got home, he called me to come into the car, and he drove so that his headlights were shining on the wall beneath Joshua's window. They were sitting like a lump on his wall, and on the grass directly beneath them. Their total size was bigger than a rugby ball... LOTS of bees!

And then the weird thing is that the next morning first thing there were lots flying around, but by the time we left for work they'd dwindled to just a few, and now there's nothing left at all! So I don't understand the whole thing, but it was very scary! But hopefully they'll be gone for good now.

(We do have a new bee guy that's going to help us if they come back, so hopefully he'll be better if the need arises)

Perhaps they were renesting, I have seen bees do a similar thing when they are moving house.

I love it here, it may be colder, but the only things we have to contend with here are daddy long legs spiders, no flies, no bees, no parktown prawns, it's great.
