Langebaan visit

We took a drive up to Langebaan today to visit a sister from our ward, and her family. Technically this was a home teaching visit, but we got to have a fun day out as a bonus.

It's the first time we've been out to visit her at her home since her family moved a few years ago, and I must say they have a really nice place there, and I think a really nice life as well, but that doesn't at all make me want to move so far away from everything.

When we first got there Joshua really enjoyed their trampoline, and probably even more so, the cat that decided to come and sit with us. This cat, Daisy, was really nice, considering what Joshua tried to do to her. I managed to prevent anything major, but he still really wanted to grab the cat. So thank goodness for patient cats!
This is the view from their patio... Really beautiful!
Caryn then took us on a drive to see the sights of the town. I must say that there isn't a lot to see, but it was really nice anyway. First she took us to see a bit of the nature reserve that is right there on the edge of town, and on the way we saw a baby ostrich, followed closely by it's mother, just walking on the side of the road, and then stopping for a snack. NOT something you'll see in Cape Town!

I didn't take any other pictures, but we went and saw the yacht club, and then various beaches, and the one thing I was struck by was the number of trailers around for transporting boats. Firstly it was just weird seeing the same thing so often, and then just, who has money for all these boats and accessories?

Caryn took us to lunch at the restaurant that her husband part owns - Pearly's, which is right on the beach front. I'll recommend it to anyone! It was a really great meal, good service (probably helped by the fact that we were with the owner's wife) and a really nice atmosphere as well! So if you ever find yourself in Langebaan...

Then we also went to visit another member who lives out there, and his family, and we had a really nice visit with them. So all in all, a really nice day, and nice to get out and do something different as well.

And we are SO lucky! Joshua didn't cry or moan once, he was a perfect angel the whole day! Happy and cheerful and completely on his best behaviour. We only actually realised it when we got home, but he could have made the whole day unpleasant, but it was nothing like that at all. So we are very thankful for our wonderful son!
