Saturday started out with Joshua coming to our bedroom for his morning bottle, and he immediately saw the presents on the floor next to the bed, and was very curious. So we delayed his bottle so that he could start opening up. (Yes, it's wrapped in Christmas paper - we have tons, and he doesn't care as long as it's bright)
Our main present to him was a big duplo starter set with all your basic shapes.
I was amazed at how he immediately started putting pieces together.
And then he saw a picture of a house on the box and he started copying it!
I just had to do the red slanted pieces for him and then he carried on again.
But it did grow a bit bigger than the picture in the end ;o)
We also gave him a set of stacking cups, and he set about stacking them in all sorts of interesting ways.
Then back to the duplo. Daddy made an aeroplane for him, and you can see how he's making the plane sounds!
Hiding the pieces with his feet...
The last present we gave him was three musical noise makers... Here he is with 2 of them showing that he knows exactly how to use them ;o)
Then after breakfast we went over the road to see the family.
Although there were presents to be opened Joshua discovered the box of toy cars and road from when my brothers were little, and all he wanted to do was play with them! In the last month he's developed a real love for cars! And of course all the men in the family enjoyed playing with the cars too ;o)
Joshua loves this table of my parents, and strangely enough he'll always go behind the couch so that he can be on the side by the window. It's one of his favourite places to drive his cars and now to also open presents and explore them.
And Cindy and Richard also enjoyed showing how to use the noise makers ;o)
The rest of Saturday was spent playing at home. Andrew got a kite a while ago to fly with Joshua and Saturday was the day to try it out. Well Joshua has very definite ideas about how kites should be flown, and him being attached to the tail is an integral part!
Then for the evening we went down to the beach to watch the sunset, and Joshua enjoyed driving the car as usual.
On Sunday it was then Easter, so there was more excitement... And then Monday came and we had Joshua's party. We just had the immediate family over this year - next year we'll have to have a separate party for his friends and the family.
Setting up the party was almost more fun for Joshua - he LOVES balloons!
Opening his presents from his cousins. They each drew a card for him too. We put the cards up in our study and he's often been pointing at them and talking about Amber, Paige and Sarah who drew them for him ;o)
And again, these men... A balloon fight... But Josh enjoyed it.
And then the kids all just played. Joshua and Sarah played outside for the most part, and for the last few days he's still been talking about when he played outside with Sarah, so it really made an impression on him!
So that's it! He's all official and 2 years old now, and hopefully ready to be a big brother!
Just 6 weeks to go now... Last week we were all sitting on the couch and Joshua suddenly put his hand on my tummy and started rubbing it and saying that the baby was inside. I think he's getting used to the idea now, and luckily at his day mother there are a couple little babies, so he does get to see them. I hope that he keeps his wonderful naturally sweet disposition and adjusts well. But we're all going to be in for an adjustment!
