Cars, balls, fish and Pooh...

Okay, I can't help it... I think my boy is the cleverest boy in the world! But I know all moms think that, so I don't feel too bad ;o)

A few days ago we took Joshua to brush his teeth, but for some reason Andrew was carrying one of his picture books. This is a book which has photos of various everyday objects, with touch and feel stuff - I love those books! So anyway, the book was open at a photo of a fish, and Joshua points at it, and then turns and points and this blow-up fish that he plays with in the bath. No prompting from us at all!

Then we have a ton of balls of all different sizes, colours and textures around the house these days... And Joshua also has a number of books with photo's of balls (including the book with the fish). And if you ask him where the ball is he will point at every ball in the vicinity - either the real ones or the books.

And then yesterday we were looking at his picture book and there was a photo of a car. So I asked like I always do to get him to point at the picture "Where's the car?" So he points at the toy car that's lying on the floor. So I try him one step further, "Where's Mommy's car?" He turns and points out the window to the driveway! And then I got him to point at the car in the book, and then he just pointed at all three, round and round and round... He likes to show off ;o)

Okay, and to set the scene for the next one... Joshua's talking has almost regressed at the moment... He likes to point at everything and say "Uh uh" to ask what something is, or "Ma ma" if he wants to do something or get something... And also if we hold him, then he'll point where he wants us to walk, and as you get to a corner with a choice he'll move his arm to the one you have to take...

So he's got Winnie the Pooh all over his bedroom. And he's started pointing at the painting above his cot, "Uh", then the light, "Uh", then the curtain, "Uh", then the clock, "Uh", then the light switch, "Uh", (yes, I know that's a lot of Pooh!), and for each of these we have to say "Pooh". Then the one time I was holding him when he did all of this, and then he pointed to the passge, we walk along, he points into the study, we go in, and he takes me to the filing cabinet, and points to some wrapping paper that's sitting on top - which is full of Pooh pictures! "Uh". I didn't even remember tha wrapping paper there - how does he remember! I have no idea when he would have seen it to even know it was there!

So his words may be few and far between, but his mind is certainly working all the time!
