My little boy turned 5 this week! There's a part of me that still can't believe it, but in other ways he's so grown up that it all makes sense...
Josh is really into dinosaurs right now, so we had a dinosaur themed party. With being Easter weekend just before his birthday we had his party on Easter Monday.
Cindy and I made the cake, with me baking it and doing the easy decorating, and Cindy, with Josh's help doing the difficult stuff... Josh did the dinosaur's legs, spine and tail! (the photos have all uploaded weird, so you'll have to turn your head to see some of them...)
The completed masterpiece!
Complete with 5 candles
Clint and Amanda made amazing pinatas for us again. Because there was no way Josh was going to let this beautiful dinosaur be smashed to pieces they also made a dinosaur egg that the boys took great delight in cracking open!
Caleb didn't have a place set at the table, but he definitely felt he deserved one. We'll have to make sure that for Hannah's party and all future parties he doesn't get excluded!
The weather didn't cooperate (but it was the Easter weekend in Cape Town after all...) But thankfully we have a carport now, so we got a small jumping castle that fitted nicely under the shelter, and worked wonders for the boys working off some energy!
Time for the party snacks!
And pass the parcel. This was the first time that any of these boys had played pass the parcel, but it went quite well.
Josh did the first cut of the cake, and he wanted the head! He cut right around the head ;o)
What worked out really well is that all the boys wanted a specific part of the skeleton, but they all got what they wanted without any fights!
And then for Joshua's actual birthday he wanted to take dinosaur biscuits to school. So guess who was up till 12:30 making dinosaurs!
And then the big day! This was Joshua's favourite present! A dinosaur skeleton fossil excavation kit ;o) Right up his scientist mind alley
We also gave him some lego and a few other odds and ends.
When he got home from school he wanted to get right into the skeleton!
Our house was covered with this white chalky dust! But he had lots of fun, and that dinosaur skeleton has been a big part of his life over the last few days!
And that's our big 5 year old!
