Hannah moments - July 2010 (6-11 weeks)

So I got asked yesterday if my children have stopped growing and doing anything interesting... The answer is "No" of course, but I have been really busy... But here is what we've been up to. The irony is that I prepared most of this before the end of July, except for the photos, but then life got hectic!

Hannah is growing so fast! At this stage it's amazing to see the development. She seems to be settling into being a really easy, sweet tempered baby, which I'm really grateful for.

She loves smiling for us, and it doesn't take much coaxing to get huge smiles (until of course I get the camera out, generally...) But she's also taken to stopping feeding to have a huge smiling session. Sometimes that's fine, but there are times when I just want her to drink up! But you can't get cross when you're being favoured with such a display ;o)

These are the first official photos of her smiling, when we went for a girls movie day to Colleen.

The other day I was showing her some pictures, which she was studying very intently. And then I showed her a picture of a face, and her face burst into a smile.

She's also very talkative, much more so than I remember Joshua being. The female gene? She's doing lots of gurgling and cooing, which is just too adorable!

But she still enjoys quiet time with Daddy.

She's discovered her hands, and the joy of sucking them. She's not really looking at them much, but she definitely knows how to connect her mouth and fist. The nice thing is that sometimes she'll pacify herself.

Starting to reach out to things.

So far her eyes are staying dark blue. Hope they stay blue! She'd be the first Herbert grandchild without brown eyes if she does!

Watching me hang up washing, on a very cold day!

With all of the new control over her body, she's moving a lot more, including in her sleep. We'll often find she's squirmed almost to the bottom of her pram in her sleep! But she can't fall out because of the front tray, so we're not overly concerned, except that she tends to then wake up sooner than she would otherwise.

I finally managed to get a frame to hang toys on for her. I looked for this when Josh was a baby, but couldn't find it.

And of course Josh wants in on the action...

... any time he can...

One of the Practica ideas is to make a rattle that you tie to a baby's limbs and let them get it to move around. Hannah is fascinated by it. And in fact she now almost always smiles at the fan (I hang the rattle on the one dangling chain), even if there's nothing hanging from it!

And I just love going shopping with her. You can see so many people peering around the edge of the baby seat to get a look at her, and then they all get the "aww" look on their face. But then she is beautiful!
