Hannah at 6 weeks

I took Hannah for her 6 week check-up yesterday and she's doing really well. The paediatrician was very happy with everything. She's now 4.7kg's, 57cm's long and her head is 38cm's. In terms of cm's she's grown the same number of cm's as Josh had at this point, although from a smaller base. But Josh was 5.7kg's already at this point. A full kg heavier!

In case you can't tell from the photos, and just to record it. Her eyes are currently a dark blue/grey colour. So from this they could go to practically anything, but there's at least a chance of blue eyes (Josh's were brown from the start). And her hair is dark, but in the sun there's a definite orange tinge. But how it will end up we can't tell yet.

She's settled into a nice 3 hourly routine during the day, and at night I'll feed her between 21:00 and 22:00, and then she'll go a full 6 hours! So I'm effectively only being woken up once each night, which is a great blessing! I was luck with Joshua too. I think Heavenly Father knows what I can handle, and what I just can't... Josh started sleeping right through at 8 weeks though. I hope she does the same!

She's definitely a little lady though. When Josh was this age he would just gulp down his milk as fast as it came (which can be pretty fast), but Hannah will pull away if it's flowing too fast and get this disgusted look on her face as if to say "Control yourself Mommy!"

She's really started smiling nicely now. But I'll have to wait patiently to really get it on camera properly. Here's a few attempts, but they do get much cuter than this - especially when she does a little skew smile pulling up one side of her mouth. Too cute!



She's fascinated by lights, like all babies. She can just stare at them for ages! And if I move a toy or rattle in front of her eyes she'll follow it a full 180 degrees.

With the cold weather we've been having we got out the sleeping bag that my mom made for my babies. It's so huge! But it kept her nice and warm.

And just to show that she isn't really so big... Such a cute little body!


Joshua has been really great. He loves his little sister (he likes to give lots of hugs and even kisses!), although there have of course been jealous moments. But for the most part he loves to help out. He'll help changing her - passing everything to me and putting on some bum cream, helps patting her back to burp her, he even helped me shoosh her when she was crying. And he loves to hold her.

And he even tries to help with her blankets! For the most part he does cover just her body. It is occasional that we have to uncover her face ;o)

And he likes to share his toys too (sometimes).
