Hannah - meet the world

So you've heard Andrew's version of the events of 17 May 2010. Here's mine...

Hannah is 10 days old today, and it's been a very eventful 10 days, as any parents will know.

I wanted to get a family photo before Hannah came. So on Sunday, 16 May these were our attempts at a serious family photo... Maybe one day my boys will behave ;o)

Then Monday morning Andrew and I went off to the hospital. It was very different to last time, because of the emergency nature of the caesar for Joshua. So despite the fact that we knew in principle what was going to be happening, I think both Andrew and I were nervous as we waited to be taken to theatre.

But the actual birth was so completely different to Joshua's. Thankfully! It was really nice being fully awake and pain free and aware of what was happening. And then our little Hannah Elizabeth was there.

Her official figures are: weight 3.385kg's, height 50cm and head circumference 35.5cm. So a much smaller baby that Josh was, and it is so strange having such a tiny baby! But I'm glad I'm getting to experience it! Andrew posted other photos last week too.

The first day being in hospital was very much a blur because of the heavy pain killers.

But Joshua meeting Hannah went really well, so that was a huge relief! (See separate post for his reaction...)

By the second day I was feeling much better. Here's our new family.

And then we got to finally come home and enjoy our little girl. I've been very much enjoying having a "pink" girl. But don't worry - she has worn other things than pink ;o) I don't think I'll be so completely obsessed. But it has been fun ;o)

Her first bath at home - she enjoyed this one quite a bit until she had to get out. Unfortunately the next one wasn't so enjoyable... But she'll get there.

Look at these long fingers and feet! We thought that Joshua had long fingers and feet, but her fingers are longer, and her feet are about the same length, but thinner, so they look even longer.

The hospital does a foot print of your baby when they do the first bath. Joshua's are the blue prints, and Hannah's the red. Pretty close... Tall children in the future?

And here is what she was doing at exactly 1 week old - 08:18 on Monday morning this week. At first she was willing to have her eyes open, but then decided that the world was too bright...

So it's been a fun 10 days, and thankfully she's been sleeping pretty well at night - for the most part going 3.5 to 4 hours between feeds. So I'm not completely dying from lack of sleep, but life is certainly different!

I'm so glad all went well. She's just beautiful, and what a lovely name.

She really is beautiful Shelly. I am so happy for you. Random, but I was surprised to see her in the bath... I wasn't allowed to submerge Luke in water until his umbilical cord stub had fallen off (and then he got a granuloma, so we had to wait longer)... it took 3 weeks for his cord to come off and another week for the granuloma to dry out... FOUR weeks of sponge baths... I was going mad! LOL
