Joshua moments - February 2011

Joshua's list of classic quotes just keeps on growing! I know that it will be the same with every child, but it's just so cool that my son can come up with so many funny things!*

If you ask him if we should do something he'll say, "I suppose we can" in a sing-song voice.*

While we were swimming with my mom and Richard Richard kept on messing around with him. Eventually he said that Richard had to go to the pipe (for the baracuda) so that he'd stop intefering and he wouldn't do anything until Richard had gone there.*

We got a new DVD, My Friends Tigger and Pooh (great kids series, by the way!) and in the one story Darby shakes a lemon tree to get lemons to fall for Kanga. So when we were getting ready to go to school one morning Josh decided that the tree next to our driveway was a lemon tree and I had to stand underneath while he shook the (not moving) branches to catch the lemons. He's starting to do a lot of role playing.*

He'll sometimes talk in a really gruff voice, especially if he thinks it's something special he's saying.*

For Valentines day Andrew didn't have a chance to go shopping for me in advance, so when we were all going to do the groceries he planned to split off. When we got to the shops Josh told me that I had to stay in the car, then they went off inside, with Josh looking back at me periodically with a pleased look on his face. When I asked hima about it later he used his gruff voice to talk about "my present". Then when we got home Andrew helped Josh to wrap it, and Josh was telling me I'm not allowed to see my present (all in his gruff voice). But then as soon as they had finished making a card he ran with it to show me! Andrew made a big heart that Josh helped to colour in red and orange and pink. Then they wrote on it, and Josh did a funny scribble to be his name.*

Josh has started singing a lot! He'll sing all sorts of songs unprompted, and he'll also sing specially for him and Hannah sometimes.*

Although he often uses his gruff voice when speaking to me, when he's playing on his own he'll speak in his upper register while he's talking to himself.*

When we were just arriving in a shop parking lot Josh saw a green Tazz and said, for the first time ever, "Mommy, like your car". I drive a blue Tazz, so I thought that was quite impressive to recognise the shape!*

He has a complete obsession with cranes. When we're driving around he's always commenting on them, and he also wants us to try building cranes, which for anyone who's tried is not the easiest thing to do...*

We tested the temperature of the pool water, and his conclusion was that it was "warm cold". So not freezing, but on the cool side...*

One of his latest things to be saying to Hannah is "That's not a toy!" I think he often needs reminding too!*

He has a bottle of mile every morning, and he'll usually ask for another one. But he'll show us how much he wants. He'll point to some imaginary scale in the air, and say "big little up to here".*

He's been watching Cars recently and he likes Mater, the tow truck. But I found it interesting to hear that he calls him Mato. In the movie Mater says, in his country accent that his name is Mater, as in Tu-mater, or Tow-mater. And when Josh hears his name he seems to be eliminating the accent and hearing To-mato and so he calls him Mato. Interesting...*

Playing cars with Uncle Rich
Playing what appears to be a very serious game with the duck...
I love seeing the positions that the children sleep in!
Josh said he was making a zero with his biscuit.
Can you spot Josh?
