Josh started counting and recognising numbers at this point. He knew a number 3 first, and when he was looking at one the one day he said "3 like Wendy got" (She's got a big number 3 on her gate)
But his concept of how many is still developing obviously. I pointed to three things and asked him how many and his response was "1, 2". So he knows it's more than 1, but hasn't got much further than that.
His long term memory is quite good though. He'll remember things that happened months ago, with no mention of it in the intervening time, so it really is just stored up in the mind of his.
Making snakes out of prestick

His concept of time is starting to develop, knowing what's yesterday and tomorrow, although he will usually refer to "last week" for anything in the past.
Helping out with watering our little flower boxes

I was busy preparing bottles for Hannah and we've got a set with pictures of Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger. He was telling me all their names and I asked him who's missing, and he told me that Piglet wasn't there.
He started doing lots of role playing. He decided that he needed to feed me, and the fork became Thomas and then James etc as it came closer to my mouth!
He also liked role playing his swimming lessons in the shower. We've got flat little animals with suctions to go on the bottom of the bath or shower so they don't slip, and the one frog would be Aunty Lindsay and the other frog would be Josh and Lindsay would tell the Josh frog to jump into the water etc.
Playing hide and seek
He really loved "In the Night Garden" which is a show on CBeeBees that he's see at Wendy's house. And he wanted all sorts of things to be the train from the show.
Wearing mom and dad's shoes

Driving his train around our home made track

This is a different generation of children! Even at this age he's starting to be able to control the mouse for the computer! He doesn't do much on the computer, but obviously it's enough for him to learn how it works and practice control of his wrists!
Very proud of his new frog shoes! They were a favourite all summer!
In one of his books, Room on the Broom, there is a phrase where a group of animals get covered in mud and they're described as tall, dark and sticky. This became a phrase for him and he started describing a few things like that!
He started enjoying his duplo and like to build all sorts of things with it.
Our small harvest from our vegetable boxes
But the tantrums also started in earnest at this point. I can't wait for this stage to be over!
His obsession with Buzz Lightyear got him to start pretending that he's a spaceman flying through the air with his arms outstretched.
He loves this little Woody. He even had to lie in bed and listen to the story too!

Hiding under the umbrella. His eyes are even closed - if I can't see you, you can't see me!

One day he piped up with telling me that Jesus was in his head. I can't remember exactly what was happening, but I think that we were just sitting on our bed, and it was pretty spontaneous.
And like such a boy he's already started trying to play air guitar! And air drums and anything else he can imitate that will make a noise!
Lots of mess and fun doing finger painting.
