So we get there, and there are a couple ducks close to where we parked and so we're feeding them and its all great. I held Joshua the whole time because I was on my own, and it's easier to hold him than to try and chase after him in a strange place... There were a couple of white ducks, so I was telling Joshua that these were like the mother ducks in one of his books and we were singing "Five little ducks".
And then... I heard the honking first, and then a couple that had walked past us around the pond called back to say they hoped we had enough bread... And the geese had arrived!

And these geese are HUGE!!! If I had had Joshua on the ground they would have been bigger than him! And I only had one and a bit slices of bread left! So I was a bit freaked out, cos geese can get aggressive. But it all worked out okay... They were standing all around us, but I threw the bread at the furthest ones, so the close ones eventually got the message that they needed to back away to get anything. Joshua enjoyed the whole thing, and was completely oblivious to the possibilities of course...
While we went to throw the packet away the geese were still all flocking around my car...

And then we came home and Joshua had a book from the library with animal pictures and there was a photo of a goose, so we could talk about the mother duck and the geese. And when I was saying "Look, there's a goose. Remember the goose we just saw" I could see that he was actually thinking back to the geese... Definitely an outing to repeat!
